Childbirth Education Classes

Pregnancy and birth are physically demanding. Mental preparation and emotional support
can go a long way towards helping you manage the intensity of your upcoming labor and birth.

Ideally, you should take a childbirth class between weeks 20 and 36 of your pregnancy, while 6-8 months pregnant.

***My students receive a $100 discount on my labor and birth doula services.***

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION IS ALSO AVAILABLE.  Please contact me at or at 708.743.9024 or via the contact form.

I am very exited to offer the brand new Evidence Based Birth® Childbirth Class.  This class is unique because it’s a hybrid class which combines the flexibility of online learning with the support of in-person instruction.

We will hold three in-person classes (weeks one, six and seven).  Weeks two through five, we’ll have a video conference calls.  Each week, you and your partner will watch instructional videos on your computer, tablet or phone.

In this class, we focus on comfort, evidence, and advocacy.  To help you and your birth partner prepare for birth, topics will include:

  • How your Partner can be your Advocate
  • Evidence Based Care
  • Overcoming Fears and Anxieties
  • Comfort Measures
  • Stages of Labor
  • Navigating the Healthcare System
  • Providers (Models of Care)
  • Support
  • Doulas
  • Communicating with hospital staff
  • Know your Rights
  • Interventions
  • Pain Relief
  • Labor Rehearsal
  • Postpartum Discussion
  • Breastfeeding
  • Newborn Procedures
  • Baby Care

Is this a Natural Childbirth Class?  At Evidence Based Birth®, we believe that every person has their own unique path. Instead of focusing on medicated vs. unmedicated birth, we focus on giving you tools and helping you learn the evidence, so that you can be empowered to make your own decisions! We do have a strong emphasis on non-drug comfort measures, because they have no side effects and can be used by everyone, whether or not you plan to use medications.

At the end of this class, you will have all the tools you need to create your ultimate labor and birth experience. If you want a natural birth, this class will give you the relaxation and pain management tools you need to have a natural birth. If you need an epidural or Cesarean, we’ll cover how you can be empowered that way, too!

I’m currently offering a special, introductory price for this class of $400.  This includes:  six-month access to the online portion of the class at Evidence Based Birth® Academy, spiral-bound workbook, a PDF library, three in-person classes, four weekly video calls and a special in-person workshop on Exercise and Nutrition for Pregnancy.

The next series will be held on Thursday evenings August 16th through September 27th, 7pm-9pm at Roots Family Chiropractic at 2744 North Lincoln Ave in Lincoln Park.  The in-person classes will be held on August 16th, September 20th and September 27th.  Your enrollment also includes a workshop on Exercise and Nutrition for Pregnancy from 1pm-3pm on Sunday August 5th at Roots Family Chiropractic.

I created the Organic Birth  childbirth education course to provide families a better understanding of the birthing process and the options available to them.

This series is fully customized to fit your needs, circumstances, and chosen of provider and birth facility.

During this series, we will examine and discuss:

  • your ideas, hopes and concerns surrounding birth
  • choosing your medical care provider and birth facility
  • nutrition and exercise during pregnancy
  • typical progression of pregnancy, labor and birth
  • common variances
  • the evidence regarding your birth options
  • comfort measures
  • the benefits of breastfeeding and how to begin
  • the postpartum recovery period
  • preparing for life with a newborn

The next series will be held on the weekend of July 21st and 22nd from 1pm-6pm at Roots Family Chiropractic at 2744 North Lincoln Ave in Lincoln Park.  The cost for this weekend intensive series is $300.
